Samsung Gear S2 is More than your Average Smartwatch

Samsung has unveil its new smartwatch, and the Samsung Gear S2 is more than your average Smartwatches, which comes with a realistic watch style rendering. You could switch your watch interface according to your taste.

Being a design person, i think i would personally score Samsung Gear S2 a 100% mark. It's not just adorable it's also packed with useful applications like the sHealth application that can monitor your daily activities.

  • S Health GUI
    Monitor daily activity levels
  • S Health GUI
    Track water vs. caffeine intake

  • S Health GUI
    Measure your pulse
  • S Health GUI
    Select type of exercise

  • S Health GUI
    Count your steps

Samsung Gear S2 also comes with different variation and specs, so there'll definitely be one that will fit into your budget, hopefully.

The Samsung Gear S2 could as well become a game changer in the Smartwatch industry, and i am predicting a great sales for samsung provided the price of the device is reasonable. Regardless, i would definitely love to have one.  :)

There’s no pricing or availability yet but you can check out the official ad for Samsung Gear S2.

South Africa: Samsung donates solar powered Internet School to Mpumalanga

Samsung Electronics South Africa, has delivered a Solar Powered Internet School (SPIS) to the Chief SW Nhlapho Secondary School in Dundonald, Mpumalanga.
The Executive Mayor of Chief Albert Luthuli Municipality, Ms B.P. Shiba, attended the SPIS handover ceremony, along with the Department of Education’s acting District Director, Mr P.P. Magagula and Head of Corporate Citizenship at Samsung Electronics South Africa, Mr Pitso Kekana.
According to Samsung, many communities facing economic and geographic challenges often have little or no access to electricity and Samsung designed the SPIS with these issues in mind. The units come completely self-contained with solar generators and wireless communication, providing unlimited access to technology, communication and information as long as there is sunlight to power the solar panels, digital cellular network or satellite connectivity. This initiative is part of Samsung’s Corporate Citizenship programme, which seeks to provide educational material and connected classrooms to disadvantaged communities.
Chief SW Nhlapo Secondary School was established in 1994 and currently has 643 learners. In 2014 the school obtained an 81.03% pass rate, producing the highest number of matric passes in Dundonald. The pupils of this school possess an incredible amount of dedication and perseverance and the school is geared towards advancing the surrounding community. The secondary school was crowned as the proud winners of a national competition called the “2012 Youth Citizens Action Programme”, where learners were challenged to demonstrate empowered active citizenship.
The Chief SW Nhlapo High School presented a road safety campaign which tackled a number of challenges they faced outside their school. The campaign generated awareness for learners to make use of the pedestrian crossings and have the boundaries of their roads fixed. In addition, the learners approached local traffic police to assist with taking non-roadworthy vehicles off the road, which is one of the main contributing factors to road accidents. This school demonstrated that hard work and persistence is a reward on its own. “The school’s drive and enthusiasm displayed in their zeal to make the road safety campaign a collective achievement, further gives us faith that they will indeed make a success of the SPIS”, concludes Kekana.

Google Play Edition Samsung Galaxy S4 And HTC One Now Available, Will Start Shipping By July 9

google-editionsDespite plenty of rumors that attested to the contrary, Google didn’t show off any new Nexus phones at its I/O developer conference. Instead it trotted out a version of the Samsung Galaxy S4 that ran a largely untouched version of Android 4.2, and Google SVP Sundar Pichai followed up with an announcement about a similarly unfettered HTC One. The announcements left Android fans (myself included) slobbering in anticipation.
Well, the wait is over — the so-called Google Play Edition S4 and One are available in the Google Play Store for $649 and $599, respectively, and Google says they’ll start shipping by July 9. A bit expensive, sure, but you’re not locked into a long-term contract with a carrier (throw in a GSM SIM and you’re golden) so arguably the good outweighs the bad here.
By now, there’s been plenty of ink (digital and otherwise) spilled on the two devices — consider our lengthy GS4 and One reviews — but it’s worth noting that these devices aren’t running a strictly stock version of Android (hence the non-Nexus monikers). Sure, the overwrought skins and UI elements endemic to Samsung’s TouchWiz and HTC’s Sense are nowhere to be found, but certain tidbits from the original software had to be migrated over in order to keep some of their more compelling features intact. That means that, among other things, the Google Play Edition One retains its Beats Audio profile to keep its twin front-facing BoomSound speakers pumping out the audio, while the GS4 still plays nice with Samsung’s curious notification-revealing flip covers.
We’re still waiting to get our hands on some demo units to really put these things through their paces, but it’s heartening to see Google and its OEM partners take our pleas for (mostly) stock Android on premium hardware seriously. Of course, the fact that nearly all of the software differentiators between the two have been given the axe means that the quality of hardware may weigh more heavily in people’s purchasing decisions — maybe HTC’s One will finally find the success the company needs it to.

Laptop Week Review: Samsung 700T Fly Or Die

In lieu of a formal review, Matt Burns and I sat down to take a look at the Samsung 700T AKA ATIV Smart PC Pro 700T, a convertible tablet that has a small button on the keyboard that pops out the Windows 8 tablet that forms the brains of the machine. The device is a bit chintzy – more pressed metal and injected plastic than I like to see on a laptop – but at about $1,000 retail it’s an acceptable compromise for Win8 users who are looking for a nicer tablet.
I gave this device a Fly simply because I like the idea – a laptop that turns into a tablet with much fuss – but Matt was unimpressed. A little treat for you: this thing was so hard to describe that I had to read the name off of my phone and I still mispronounced it.
The laptop hit about 6 hours of battery life and a Geekbench score of about 4,000, on par with the i5 tablets we tested. The lower price – especially at this late in the game for this laptop, make it an interesting choice for a fleet laptop but I think the fit, finish, and power could detract from its overall appeal. It’s an interesting laptop, to be sure, but not the best of the bunch.
